Runway 5K Returns to ITH for Airport Day & Preparedness Expo 2026
Get ready to be cleared for takeoff.
The Runway 5K is returning to Ithaca Tompkins International Airport (ITH) as part of Airport Day & Preparedness Expo 2026, giving runners a rare opportunity to race on the airport’s runway and taxiway.
This unique round-trip course is flat, fast, and unlike any other race in the region.

With just 515 runners cleared for takeoff, early registration is encouraged.

Pancake Breakfast is now included with registration.
That means after you cross the finish line, you can stick around and enjoy breakfast as part of the larger Airport Day & Preparedness Expo experience.

Awards
The first male and first female overall finishers will each receive a $250 travel voucher toward airfare from Ithaca Tompkins International Airport.
Travel voucher awarded as a rebate with proof of travel.

Supporting Future Pilots
All proceeds from the Runway 5K will benefit a local scholarship fund that helps aspiring pilots attend flight training through East Hill Flying Club.
By participating, runners are not only enjoying a unique race experience, but also helping support the next generation of aviation in our community.
